In the week ending February 9, steel
plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have mostly indicated increases, though slight decreases have been seen in shipbuilding
plate prices. Meanwhile, transaction activity in the market has generally been slack.
Average steel plate prices in
China can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.
During the given week, steel
plate prices in Shanghai and Tianjin have indicated rises of RMB 30-60/mt ($5-10/mt), while prices in southern
China have seen declines. The price rises have mainly been a reaction due to the strong declines seen previously. Activity is slack approaching the Spring Festival holiday (February 18-24). Since not so many new supplies have been arriving in the market, some products have been in short supply, which has provided some support for steel
plate prices. As for the coming week, it is thought that steel
plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move on a stable trend as the Spring Festival draws closer.
