During the given week, major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel lowered its steel plate ex-works prices for June delivery by RMB 200/mt ($32.3/mt), exerting a negative impact on the trend of the domestic steel plate market. Meanwhile, demand from downstream users has been slack, resulting in poor purchasing activity in the given week. With the decreasing trend seen in steel plate prices in the spot market, steelmakers have been facing very strong competition in attracting orders. It is expected that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will continue their downtrend in the coming week.
