In the past week, demand in the Turkish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) market has continued to be slack over the past week, while local prices of Turkish PPGI have remained unchanged in the same period. Market sources state that Turkish traders are trying to avoid building up their stocks ahead of the New Year. Additionally, weak demand and the low levels of prices in the Turkish flat steel market have exerted a negative impact on the Turkish PPGI market. Meanwhile, in their counter-offers Turkish buyers continue to seek price reductions, while it is heard that $5-10/mt reductions in prices are only available for buyers seeking large volumes.

Turkish mills' local offers for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are standing at $995-1,050/mt, while offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $855-910/mt and prices for RAL 9002 1 mm stand at $775-820/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.

In the meantime, average ex-Turkey PPGI offers have decreased by $15/mt over the past week to the range of $835-860/mt FOB, for December production.
