Domestic flat steel prices in the Italian market have been following a downward trend in the past few weeks. According to market sources, demand from local service centers and distributors is currently lower compared to the same period of last year.
Italian producers' offers for hot rolled coil (
HRC) have moved down by €10/mt on the lower end and by €5/mt on the higher end to €500-520/mt ($545-567/mt) ex-works, while cold rolled coil (
CRC) offers have decreased by €10/mt on the lower end and by €20/mt on the higher end to €600-620/mt ($654-676/mt) ex-works, while Italian hot dip
galvanized (HDG) coil offers have declined to €640-660/mt ($697-719/mt) ex-works, down by €10/mt on the lower end and by €20/mt on the higher end, all compared to mid-April.
Meanwhile, flat steel offers from steel mills in northern Europe currently stand at slightly higher prices compared to Italian flat steel offers, supported by better order books.
