Demand in the Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil market has remained poor in the current week. Ahead of the March 30 municipal elections in Turkey, buyers are only booking small volumes for their immediate requirements, similar to the situation in the domestic market for other flat steel products. Market players expect some improvement in demand after the elections with the help of seasonal factors.
In the Turkish domestic market, current HDG sales prices, which are unchanged this week, are as follows:
Product | Price ($/mt) |
HDG 0.50 mm 100gr/m² | 760-795 |
HDG 1 mm 100gr/m² | 710-740 |
HDG 2 mm 100gr/m² | 690-720 |
The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.
On the other hand, demand for Turkish HDG in the export market has slowed down after showing a slight improvement last week, as buyers in the target markets still find Turkish HDG offers to be high despite the gradual price cuts made since late January. Turkish HDG export offers have decreased by $25/mt since January and are currently at $750-780/mt FOB.
