Everybody in Italy’s flats market is still in wait-and-see mode. Despite the return from the holidays, the softening in prices have been causing both importers and buyers in the local market to continue to wait. Meanwhile, Ilva has not officially announced its prices; however, it is said that this Italian producer is expected to make a downward correction in its prices. SteelOrbis has learned that Chinese-origin HRC is being offered to Italy at €720/mt FOT, with 60-day deferred payment. Meanwhile, Libyan-origin HRC is being offered to Italy at the level of $955/mt FOB for October shipment. On the other hand, Italian producer Ilva’s base price for HRC is at €770/mt ex-works, excluding VAT.
