The situation in Pakistan’s import hot rolled coil (HRC) market has been lacking clarity this week following more discounts coming from Chinese traders, while suppliers from Japan have been targeting higher offers for September shipment materials. At the same time, other suppliers, like those from South Korea and Taiwan, have been out of the market this week.

More specifically, Chinese traders have been offering SS400 and Q195 HRC at around $555-560/mt CFR, down by $10/mt over the past two weeks. Offers for ex-China SAE1006 HRC from traders have been heard at $570/mt CFR, while those from mills are at around $580-590/mt CFR, the same as two weeks ago.

At the same time, while Chinese traders are ready to provide some discounts to attract buyers, suppliers from Japan have been offering their SAE1006 HRC at around $600/mt CFR, up by $15-20/mt over the past two weeks. Other suppliers, however, have been out of the Pakistani market, given the lack of a clear price trend so far.
