Heavy plate prices in Italian domestic market

Prices in the local Italian heavy plate market have increased by €10-20/mt for February deliveries to €510-520/mt ($530-541/mt) ex-works, in line with the price rise predicted in our report last week. Reduced import volumes this year compared to 2015 and the good order books of domestic producers have contributed to this price increase. Meanwhile, some customers have remained in standby mode this month but are expected to return with new orders soon since they are using up their stocks.
