A source from an exporter in Brazil informed that the base price for negotiations of slab is currently of $340/mt, FOB conditions.

“The price compares with a range of $320/mt to $340/mt FOB over the last few weeks, but now it is not possible to close deals at less than $340/mt FOB,” the source said, adding that there is an upward trend, reflecting prices in the international markets.

In September, ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported slab at $362/mt, ThyssenKrupp CSA at $360/mt, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP) at $318/mt and Gerdau Acominas at $431/mt, all FOB conditions.

The main destinations for Brazilian slab in September were the EU (206,300 mt), the US (127,300 mt) and Asia (95,800 mt).
