Exports of HRC by Brazilian producers in October increased by 9 percent from September to 176,700 mt, at an average FOB price 7 percent higher, $579/mt, reflecting exports by ArcelorMittal at $555/mt (89,300 mt), by Usiminas Cosipa at $644/mt (57,800 mt) and by CSN at $644/mt (29,400 mt).
According to the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC, the main destinations of HRC exports in October were Europe (up 238 percent to 87,100 mt), the US (up 26 percent to 45,000 mt) and Latin America (up 53 percent to 44,100 mt).
A source from a major distributor in the southern region told SteelOrbis that he is currently selling HRC of the basic commercial grades in the domestic market at BRL2,200/mt ($843/mt) on a FOB basis, including ICMS tax and PIS Cofins levies and excluding IPI tax.
