According to market sources, demand in the local pre-painted
galvanized (PPGI) coil market in
Turkey has improved slightly during the past week, though it is still considered to be weak, while producers' prices have remained stable week on week. At present, Turkish mills' local prices for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-
coated PPGI are at $820-845/mt, while their offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $705-740/mt and prices for 1 mm RAL 9002 are at $640-675/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis, exclude 18 percent VAT, and are for September production. Market sources state that PPGI producers have been reluctant to conclude purchases of hot rolled coil (HRC) feedstock due to declines seen in HRC prices, and so their feedstock inventories have decreased. With rising demand for PPGI coil and declining supply, PPGI coil prices in
Turkey are expected to increase in the coming period.
Meanwhile, demand for Turkish PPGI in the export markets is still slack this week, though it has indicated slight upticks. Market sources state that demand for Turkish PPGI has increased in the US and North African markets. Especially, after the petition filed in the US for an antidumping investigation on
coated product imports from five countries - particularly for Chinese products - demand for Turkish PPGI in the US market has risen sharply. On the other hand, Turkish PPGI export offer prices have also remained unchanged week on week at $695-745/mt FOB for September production.
