Demand still slow in Chinese domestic PPGI market

Friday, 29 July 2016 11:34:22 (GMT+3)   |   Shanghai
During the week ending July 29, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have indicated a rising trend in Boxing, though remaining stable in other regions, with the overall average prices in the domestic market having risen slightly compared to the previous week, while transaction activity in the domestic market is still at low levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.

During the given week, demand has remained slack in the domestic PPGI market due to the hot summer weather conditions. Approaching the end of the month, traders have been choosing to sell supplies in order to bring in cash. Producers’ ex-works prices of PPGI for August delivery are mostly unchanged compared to July delivery prices, providing a certain degree of support for PPGI prices in the domestic spot market. Meanwhile, traders are looking forward to better demand in September. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move on a stable trend in the coming week.
