SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that many local producers' hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices for April and May production in the Turkish domestic market have increased by $5/mt compared to last week, amid the release of demand which had been postponed until after the March 30 municipal elections in Turkey. Some Turkish producers have not raised their HDG prices yet but they are expected to do so in the coming week.
In the Turkish domestic market, current HDG sales prices are as follows:
Product | Price ($/mt) |
HDG 0.50 mm 100gr/m² | 765-800 |
HDG 1 mm 100gr/m² | 715-745 |
HDG 2 mm 100gr/m² | 695-725 |
The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.
On the other hand, demand in the target markets for Turkish HDG exports, which had been weak for a long time, has increased. Ex-China and ex-India HDG offers still continue to put downward pressure on price levels in the target markets and so the price increase recorded in the domestic market has not been reflected in the export markets. Turkish HDG export offers have remained unchanged since last week and are at $750-780/mt FOB.
