According to market sources, demand for hot dip galvanized (HDG) products in the local Turkish market has continued to be characterized by sluggishness during the past week, while discounts are still available depending on buyers and tonnages. Market sources state that discounts are expected to decline and prices are expected to switch to a sideways movement in Turkish domestic HDG market when demand in the export markets stabilizes at higher levels.
In the Turkish domestic market, HDG sales prices have decreased by $5/mt over the past week for May production and are currently as follows:
Product | Price ($/mt) |
HDG 0.50 mm 100gr/m² | 620-670 |
HDG 1 mm 100gr/m² | 580-615 |
HDG 2 mm 100gr/m² | 560-580 |
The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.
Meanwhile, demand in Turkish HDG export markets has continued to improve in the past week, following the improvements seen in the previous two weeks, and has now reached medium levels. Turkish producers' HDG offers, especially to the North African market, have mostly resulted in transactions, but prices have decreased by $10/mt week on week to the range of $620-670 mt FOB when discounts are taken into account.
