CRC import price offers increase slightly in Brazil

CRC imports in Brazil remain negotiated in average at $890/mt, CFR conditions, against $880/mt two weeks ago, according to sources.

In August, Brazil exported 1,712 mt and imported 37,900 mt of CRC, against respectively 7,500 mt and 30,700 mt in July.

The exports of August were all destined to South American countries, almost entirely by Usiminas (1,657 mt at $1,279/mt) while CSN exported 44 mt at $1,268/mt and traders exported 11 mt at $1,400/mt) all FOB conditions.

The imports came from China (36,800 mt at $723/mt) and South Korea (1,100 mt at $893/mt), also FOB conditions.

In the Brazilian domestic market, CRC of the basic commercial grades is offered in medium to large volumes by the producers at BRL 6,400/mt ($1,288/mt), against BRL 6,520/mt two weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included.

In the Brazilian domestic market, the premium in relation to the price of a similar imported product, after clearing customs, is now around 18 percent, against 25 percent two weeks ago, according to sources.
