Cold weather impacts demand in Chinese domestic HDG market

During the week ending December 4, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have indicated a slight downtrend, while overall transaction activity is still slack. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, due to the colder weather, demand for HDG from downstream industries in China has indicated a significant decline, resulting in increased sluggishness of transaction activities. Meanwhile, production capacity utilization rates have been at relatively high levels, exerting pressure on the supply side. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market are unlikely to see an improvement and will continue to follow a downward movement due to slack demand amid cold winter weather conditions.
