Chinese PPGI market still on the way down amid weak demand

During the week ending August 31, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) prices in the Chinese domestic market have continued to decline, amid heightened competition in the market. Average prices of PPGI in the domestic market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

In the current situation of low construction starts and reduced fixed assets investment in China, the Chinese PPGI market has been suffering from sluggish demand. At the same time, recent arrivals of new PPGI supplies have also put pressure on the market, and, coupled with low market activity, have contributed to the downtrend of market prices.

There has not been any significant change with regard to the supply and demand dynamics in the Chinese PPGI market. Slow demand still constitutes one of the main pressures on the market. It is thought that the Chinese PPGI market will maintain its weak trend in the short term.
