According to sources, at least one Brazilian slab exporter will start negotiations for shipments in October with offer at $590/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.

Such price offer compares to $570/mt FOB for the last deals closed for shipments in September.

The optimism in relation to a higher price derives chiefly from indications of a shortage of material of the BPI grade in different markets.

In July, Brazil exported 463,700 mt of slab, in average at $750/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in May.
