Brazil exported 51,600 mt of hot dip galvanized products (HDG) in April, 14 percent less than in March, at an average FOB price increased by 5.6 percent to $554/mt, said the country’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.
The main exporters were CSN (33,000 mt at $561/mt), ArcelorMittal (12,600 mt at $570/mt) and Usiminas (5,800 mt at $480/mt), all FOB conditions, price deals probably closed in February.
The main destinations of April were the US (31,500 mt) and Latin America (17,200 mt, of which 14,700 mt to Argentina).
The most recent deals for exports of HDG from Brazil were closed at $680/mt, against $630/mt three weeks ago, a local producer told SteelOrbis, adding that the reduced volume in March was a temporary event, as the volume to be exported over the next months is set to increase, chiefly due to increased demand from the US.
During 2015, the Brazilian exports of HDG to the US were in average 16,000 mt per month, while so far in 2016 the average is 54,000 mt per month.
