On Wednesday, West Chester, Ohio-based flat rolled steelmaker AK Steel announced it would increase current spot market base prices for all carbon flat rolled products by $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt), effective immediately with new orders.
As of late Thursday, no other domestic flat steel producers had followed the increase.
