Turkey’s industrial output decelerates in August

Based on the data released by the State Institute of Statistics (DIE), Turkey's industrial output showed a slowdown in August compared to previous months. August industrial output increased by 8.8% compared to the same period of last year. Mining sector indicated an increase of 11.9% in August while manufacturing sector grew by 9% and electric, gas and water sector rose by 5.6% when compared with the corresponding period of last year. Motor vehicles output increased by 55.9% in the mentioned period. However, refined petroleum products output reduced by 11.5%. This high level reduction in TUPRAS' output was determinative of industrial output's growth rate. In the first eight months of the year, industrial output showed a rise of 12.6% compared to 7.1% growth rate recorded in the same period of last year. Mining sector rose by only 0.7% in the mentioned period. Manufacturing and electric, gas and water sectors grew by 13.8% and 6.9% respectively.
