Japan’s steel exports grow by 0.9% in June

The data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation shows that Japan's steel exports amounted to 2.93 million mts in June with an increase of 0.9% compared to the same period of last year. The first growth in the last two months is attributed to China's demand. Exports to China soared by 32.1% to 614'000 mts. Japan exported 107'000 mts of steel to the US, up by 43.2%. However, exports to South Korea and Taiwan decreased by 10.4% and 1.7% to 775'000 mts and 283'000 mts respectively. Thailand imported 326'000 mts of steel from Japan.
