China not contemplate to raise interest rates in short term

Chinese central bank is not considering raising interest rates in the short term, an official of the State Council's Development Research Center (DRC) said. An official from DRC also pointed out that the interest rate increase depends on the development trend of macro economy of China. The economic situation, supply and demand of funds and the difference between the interest rates of the US and China are the three major factors that decide whether it is necessary to raise the interest rates in China this year. The interest rate on loans has not been increased since July 1995 so a possible rate hike would indicate a significant escalation against inflation.
