Australia’s coal export value higher in October

Australian Statistics Bureau announced that the value of Australian coal exports reached A$1.27 billion in October compared to A$1.21 billion recorded in September. In the four month ended October 31, the value of coal exports rose by 43% to A$5.03 billion from a year earlier. Australia is the biggest global supplier of seaborne coal. Australia exports most of the coal to North Asia, particularly Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan. In these countries, coal is used in power generators and blast furnaces for steelmaking. At the same time, Australia exported 10.2 million mts of coking coal in October while thermal coal exports were recorded as 9.2 million tons.
