Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal has stated that its investments in the construction of its new converter shop will amount to $1.5 billion.

According to the company's statement, this project will allow it to abandon the outdated open-hearth steel-smelting process, reduce pollution and gas consumption, and also to increase its product range. When the new shop is put into operation, the open-hearth plant, blooming mill, rolling mill-1680 and auxiliary manufacturing facilities will be put out of operation.
