Zaporizhstal sees 2.7 percent growth in January-August crude steel output

In January-August this year, Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal's finished steel product output increased by 1.25 percent to 1.843 million mt, while its crude steel production rose by 2.7 percent to 2.229 million mt, both compared to January-August 2009. In addition, the plant saw a 0.9 percent year-on-year growth in its pig iron output to 1.833 million mt and a one percent year-on-year increase in its agglomerate production to 3.257 million mt.

In August, Zaporizhstal increased its steel finished product output by 7.3 percent month on month to 249,000 mt, but saw a 2.4 percent drop in its crude steel production to 289,000 mt. Meanwhile, the company's outputs of pig iron and agglomerate were at the levels of the previous month, i.e., 229,000 mt and 419,000 mt respectively.
