Zaporizhstal orders pickling line from Siemens VAI

The Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services announced yesterday that Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal ordered a new continuous pickling line from Siemens VAI. The pickling line will be designed to have a nominal pickling capacity of 1.35 million tons. The plant, which is scheduled to be operational by June 2008, will be fully automated and a high degree of pickling efficiency will be assured by the application of turbulent pickling-acid injection. The project scope includes the engineering, supply and installation of mechanical, electrical, chemical, process-control and automation equipment and systems in addition to advisory services for erection, start-up and commissioning. With the completion of the plant, Ukrainian steelmaker will be able to produce high-quality pickled coils and sheets.
