Yuxi Steel’s 2007 crude steel output tops one million mt

Yunnan Province-based steelmaker Yuxi Xinxing Iron & Steel Co. Ltd has announced a record output of crude steel for 2007, exceeding one million mt. During the year in question, the steelmaker produced 1.43 million mt of sintering ore, 930,000 mt of pig iron, 1.17 million mt of crude steel, 630,000 mt of medium-width strip and 300,000 mt of steel bars.

In the February-October 2005 period, Yuxi Xinxing Iron & Steel Co. Ltd installed equipment including a sintering machine, blast furnace, converter, rolling machine and bar machine, commencing production during the same period. In 2005, the company produced 780,000 mt of sintering ore, 400,000 mt of pig iron, 390,000 mt of semis and 30,000 mt of medium-width strip. In 2006, when the mill had all its projects up and running, it increased its production to 1.31 million mt of sintering ore, 770,000 mt of pig iron, 980,000 mt of semis and 370,000 mt of finished steel.

During the eleventh five-year-plan period (2007-2012), the company is planning to invest RMB 1.4 billion, in order to raise its capacity to two million mt of crude steel.
