Xuanhua Steel has successfully carried out trial production of 11.0 mm wire rod according to the American SAE standard - as announced by the company's website. As a result, Xuanhua Steel has added SAE standard 11 mm WR (SAE1008) to the other wire rod specifications it produces, including 5.5 mm, 6.5 mm, 7.0 mm, 8.0 mm, 10.0 mm and 12.0 mm. This latest addition to Xuanhua's WR product range, used in the manufacture of welding rod and steel wire, will be destined mainly for export.
A subsidiary of the Tangshan Steel Group, Xuanhua Steel's 2006 production figures included 4.42 million mt for pig iron, 4.3 million mt for crude steel, and 4.12 million mt for finished steel. The mill mainly produces wire rod, rebar, welded pipe, steel strip, and round bar.
