Xinjiang eyes annual crude steel output of 32 million mt by end of 2015

According to the 12th five-year (2011-15) plan of China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, by the end of 2015 the region is expected to have an annual crude steel production capacity of 32 million mt, as reported by Chinese financial website Hexun.com.

The targeted annual crude steel production capacity in the region by the end of 2015 includes 12 million mt in Wuchang, 8 million mt in North Xinjiang, 9 million mt in South Xinjiang and 3 million mt in East Xinjiang. In addition, the region also plans to invest RMB 91.1 billion ($14.46 billion) in fifteen major steelmaking programs in 2011-15.
