Wuyang Steel’s 3.5Ni steel plate to be used in SINOPEC LNG project

On January 19, Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group announced that 1,100 mt of 3.5Ni steel plate for use at ultra-low temperatures have been produced by its Hebei-based subsidiary Wuyang Iron and Steel Co.(Wuyang Steel) are now ready for delivery for application in a Shandong-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) project being implemented by China Petrochemical Corporation (SINOPEC). The steel plates in question, which previously have been supplied via imports, will be used for the manufacture of cryogenic spherical storage tanks. The Shandong LNG project will transmit 10 million mt of LNG annually to Shandong Peninsula and northern China.
