China-based Wuhan Baosteel Can-making Co., Ltd. has laid the foundation stone marking the start of construction of its new beverage can production facility in Wuhan Development Zone, on which a total investment of RMB 252 million ($37 million) will be spent.

The company, a subsidiary of major Chinese steel producer Baosteel, will mainly produce beverage can for famous brands such as Coca Cola, Pepsi Cola, Snow Beer and others. The output of the facility will be 1,400 cans per minute, equal to approximately 480 million cans per year, and bringing in more than RMB 300 million ($44 million) in annual sales revenues after its completion. The products will mainly be supplied to six Chinese provinces, including Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shanxi and Henan.

As SteelOrbis previously reported trial production is expected to start in December of the current year. Baosteel has already built beverage can production lines in Shanghai, Hebei, Chengdu and Guangdong Foshan.
