About 7,000 workers from the Siderurgica Pecem, a steel mill that is being built in the Pecem area, in Ceara, Brazil, decided to continue a strike following a lack of response to their requests, a construction union said on Wednesday.

“No resolution has been taken,” said the Sintepav-CE union, adding the strike will continue until there’s a solution.

Workers ask for equal pay among same-level employees.

The Siderurgica Pecem or SP, as it’s known in the state of Ceara, is a joint venture among Brazil’s Vale, Dongkuk and Posco.

When completed, all steel produced by the company will be provided to Vale and to the South Korean companies.

Dongkuk will receive 1.6 million metric tons (mt) of steel, while Posco and Vale will receive 800,000 and 600,000 mt, respectively.
