Hubei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Co. (WISCO) has announced that it has overcome several technical difficulties in the further development of its DL05 steel wire rod for application in cables, improving electrical conductivity and reducing non-metallic inclusions, thereby reaching advanced international standards for the product.

The DL05 steel wire rod for cables is mainly used in telecommunication lines, trolley bus systems, and in the subway and railway sectors. It also performs well in corrosive environments. Since WISCO initially developed the product in 2010, it has produced a total of 50,000 mt.
