The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that in January-February this year its Novgorod-based pipe producing subsidiary Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) delivered a batch of large diameter (LD) steel pipes for the NOPL Project 24  gas pipeline in Nigeria, being contracted by oil service company Damagix.

Accordingly, under this contract, Vyksa produced a batch of X65 grade steel pipes of 610 mm diameter and of 11.1 mm and 15.9 mm wall thickness, with an external three-layer anti-corrosion polyethylene coating in accordance with the specifications of the company Total. The production was carried out under the supervision of Moody Int., Bureau Veritas, Total and Damagix.

OMK had already been supplying LD steel pipes to the African market. In the second half of 2009, Vyksa produced 25,000 mt of LD steel pipes for the construction of the OML 58 Obite-Ubeta-Rumuji gas pipeline in Nigeria.
