Vietnam’s steel and scrap imports decline in May from April

In May this year, Vietnam’s steel imports amounted to 1.04 million mt, down 8.9 percent compared to April, while its scrap imports dropped by 6.9 percent month on month to 373,401 mt, according to the data published by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

In the January-May period this year, Vietnam’s steel imports dropped by 9.8 percent year on year to 5.51 million mt, while its scrap import shipments amounted to 2.16 million mt in the given period, rising by 9.2 percent year on year.
