"This is an unprecedented event, as Venezuela had always exported the product to Colombia." He further told the Latin American newspaper that Paz del Rio has also exported steel to Ecuador and Peru in 2010 as well.

Columbia, who typically stands on the import side of steel trade with Venezuela, has been reported to have exported approximately 5,000 tons to its Northeast neighbor in the first half of 2010.
