Vale’s iron ore exports decline 12.1 percent in August

Exports of iron ore by Vale and its affiliated companies reached 21.8 million mt in August, 12.1 percent down year-on-year according to data from nation’s union of the industry of extraction of iron and base metals, Sinferbase.

According to Sinferbase, in the cumulative period of January to August, iron ore exports by Vale and its affiliated companies totaled 184.83 million mt, 3.6 percent up year-on-year.

Sinferbase said Samarco exported 2.52 million mt of the commodity in August, while Anglo American sold about 988,009 mt of the product overseas.
