Vale’s iron ore exports rise by 50 percent in April

According to the statistics provided by Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals (Sinferbase), the country's iron ore exports in April this year amounted to 18.64 million metric tons, increasing by 47.62 percent year on year.
 
In April, iron ore exports of the world's largest iron ore exporter Vale accounted for 90.06 percent of the country's total iron ore exports, amounting to 16.83 million metric tons, up 50.17 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, Brazil's iron ore exports in the first four months of 2010 rose by 27.62 percent year on year, reaching 81.97 million metric tons.
 
Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the January-April period reached 89.18 percent and amounted to 73.1 million metric tons, climbing by 22.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
