Vale debuts on Hong Kong stock exchange

December 8, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-based Vale SA, the world's largest iron ore miner, debuted on the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Vale introduced depositary receipts December 8 in order to boost its profile in Asia, which currently accounts for half its sales.

Vale has said the company is also interested in increasing its investor base in the region, and Hong Kong has an especially large number of retail investors.
