Brazilian newspaper Valor Economico reported Wednesday that Brazilian mining company Vale SA is considering building a facility to produce railroad rails in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Vale is already one of the largest owners and operators of Brazilian railroad networks, but currently imports rails from other countries such as China. If constructed, the plant would have an annual production capacity of 500,000 metric tons of rail.
