Usiminas develops ultra-high resistance steel for civil construction segment

Brazilian flats steelmaker Usiminas has developed an ultra high resistance steel for the civil construction segment, the company said this week.
 
Named Sincron WHS 1000T, the product will be used in the manufacturing of the main sustaining parts of the Hercilio Luz bridge in the city of Florianopolis, in the state of Santa Catarina.
 
Usiminas said it will use about 1,500 mt of heavy plates in order to make the parts it will use to sustain the bridge.  
 
The Sincron WHS 1000T steel was developed at the company’s Ipatinga mill, located in the state of Minas Gerais.
