US rig count up by 20 but Canada’s still falling

According to the latest report from Baker Hughes, for the week ending May 4, the US rig count was up 20 from the previous week to 1,965, and up 129 year-on-year. The oil rig count jumped by 27 to 1,355 (up 421 year-over-year), but the gas rig count fell by seven to 606 and is down 284 from the same week a year ago.

On the other hand, Canada's rig count fell by three in the last week, and the overall rig count now stands at 131, reflecting an eight-rig increase year-on-year.
