Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 17 the
US rig count fell by six to 857, after a one-rig increase the previous week. The gas rig count increased by one to 218, whereas the oil rig count decreased by seven to 638. The overall rig count is down by 1,014 from 1,871 rigs during the same week a year ago.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 23 in the week ending July 17 to 192, after a 30-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 189 from 381 rigs during the same week a year ago.
