US-based AT&F Steel opens new HLAW facility

Cleveland, Ohio-based steel processing company AT&F Steel announced Thursday that it has opened the doors of its newest welding center in Cleveland. The multi-million dollar Hybrid Laser Arc Welding (HLAW) facility is the largest of its kind in the US.

AT&F chose the new hybrid lasers because the hybrid laser welds are highly uniform with much less heat input than conventional welds. This, combined with a welding speed of up to 250 inches per minute, greatly reduces the component distortion, producing a highly standardized product.

"Hybrid laser welding will reduce production time and costs as well as produce the most consistent components," said Michael Ripich, President of AT&F Steel.
