US and Canadian rig counts still on a sustained downtrend

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending November 13 the US rig count decreased by four to 767, after a four-rig drop the previous week. The gas rig count decreased by six to 193, whereas the oil rig count increased by two to 574. The overall rig count is still down by 1,161 from 1,928 rigs during the same week a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by nine in the week ending November 13 to 176, after a six-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 226 from 402 rigs during the same week a year ago.
