According to a recent report by Recovery.gov, as of March 31, 2010 the Department of Transit (DOT) had spent $10.4 billion on infrastructure projects such as road improvements and bridge work.  This figure reflects a $1 billion increase from levels reported at the end of February.

Under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, $38 billion has been made available to states to fund infrastructure projects.  Another $10 billion is still available to the DOT, for a total of $48 billion, of which $8 billion has been earmarked to help fund passenger rail development.  The remaining funds will be distributed at the Department's discretion.
