US wire rod exports fall 34.3 percent in April

US exports of wire rod totaled 5,982 mt in April, down 34.3 percent from March and down 18.8 percent from April 2016 levels. By value, wire rod exports totaled $5.9 million in April, compared to $8.6 million in the previous month and $7.2 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most wire rod to Canada in April, with 4,163 mt, compared to 5,569 mt in March and 4,875 mt in April 2016. Other destinations included Mexico, with 1,263 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US wire rod exports in April.
