After increasing 2.6 percent in the week ending November 12, the American Iron and Steel Institute reported Monday that US raw steel production rose again last week (ended November 19), with output increasing 2 percent from the previous week.
Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,873,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 2 percent increase from the 1,836,000 nt produced in the previous week, and a 13.4 percent increase from the 1,651,000 nt produced in the same week of last year.
The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 75.6 percent in the week ending November 19, compared to 74.1 percent in the previous week and 68.3 percent in the same week of last year.
