US tool steel exports down 5.3 percent in July

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of tool steel totaled 9,002 mt in July 2023, down 5.3 percent from June and up 5.3 percent from July 2022. By value, tool steel totaled $17.1 million in July, compared to $20.2 million in the previous month and $16.5 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most tool steel to Mexico in July with 7,168 mt, compared to 6,766 mt in June and 5,297 mt in July 2022. Other top destinations included Canada, with 1,629 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US tool steel exports in July.
